ZT 3D Design

For the paper craft project I decided to replicate the Nintendo 64 logo because I think it has a really interesting shape to it where the “N” shapes repeat and intertwine. As a kid my brothers and I went to our friends house every day before school and we would all head down to their basement where only the light of the TV screen illuminated the room. Each and every day we would play Mario Party laughing and shouting with our friends in the early morning and it's something I'll never forget. I also remember how sometimes on the weekend it would be a special occasion where we would go to the movie store and rent a game for the weekend. Playing games like Super Smash bros and 007 Golden Eye. These are some really fond memories from my childhood and the other reason why I chose to recreate the logo for the Nintendo 64.  I split "N" shape into half sections so that I could copy the same piece several times and then connect them together like puzzle piece...

For the digital samples project I decided to do one larger model broken down into different subsections and several other more simplistic objects. The challenges I faced during this project were getting used to modelling in Rhinoceros5, speeding up my workflow, and trying to build better habits and techniques when building objects. I had some trouble rounding off the tank treads so after a while I decided to move on and focus on my other models. It was interesting unfolding some models because they had to be broken down into smaller components so that they could actually be assembled and not overlap one another on the 2D plane. I enjoyed modelling some of the simple objects more such as the flashlight, pen, and chair. I think it's really cool how with some of the objects you can even guess what they are by looking at their unfolded version. Art Installations in Dubai by Zim & Zou : Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann are two french artists with graphic design roots who decided to move away from the digital realm towards more traditional craftsmanship and within that papercraft. I really enjoy this duo's artworks because they have such clean cut pieces of paper with a more minimalist graphic design style. The colour choices throughout their work really pop in the pieces while maintaining balance making them visually appealing. The bright colours and clean edges bring order and excitement to their art while the physical craftsmanship dropped into a well lit setting cause the artwork to come alive with shadows casting different shades of colours and creating depth. In conclusion, with such rigid edges it is quite delightful how much life their pieces carry with them having an aura of joy, excitement and harmony. Retro Laser T-Rex: After discussing with my classmates last week I decided to go forward with refining the Laser T-Rex model for the Mesh Mashup because it's a ridiculous and unique 3D model that I enjoyed meshing together. The newer model of the Laser T-Rex now has more accurate colour and lighting where I also decided to add some cybernetic looking hydraulics for his legs, a chrome protective rib cage and more detail to the horn on his head.  In our group discussions last week everyone decided that the two best mashups were the "Elephant Fortress" and "Laser T-Rex". I liked the way the elephant model looked with the simpler concept of an elephant carrying a ziggurat on it's back and originally decided to work on that however after a while I of adding ladders to make it more functional I didn't like were it was headed and felt that everything would be much to small to make any kind of visual impact.
