Ceramic 3D Print

For our ceramic 3D print we decided to take an interesting geometric shape and have it morph into something more organic. Emily worked on the base geometric model and then Liam melted the organic shape out of the side. We were concerned about the size of the extruder with our model however it turned out quite nicely in the end. View 1 View 2: Rough Sketches:

Hybrid Object Design (Comprehensive)

For the Hybrid object design project Emily and I originally compared our concepts and we both really liked her design with the flipped tetrahedrons. We chose a couple of my own as well though  I did not feel like they were strong enough concepts. I went back to the drawing board and made the chess piece looking model with the flipped heart shapes on it. Made base triangular model into a rounder pentagon to blend closer with the rounded chess piece. Test flips. Seeing where the shapes can support one another. Final structural concept. Papercraft Objects: Final Revision

In part one I made a prototype of the Nintendo 64 symbol, however I wasn't really sure where I could take such a simple model without it looking like I was just adding extra meaningless polygons to it. I also wanted to work on my 3D Modelling ability and to attack a more complex model. I decided to recreate and modify a WWII German Tiger tank being a superior piece of engineering at the time. Creating the model worked out pretty well though I had a few issues trying to line up the side panels so that they were closed poly surfaces. When unfolding the model it had to be broken up into several pieces to be assembled later such as the hatch area, barrel, upper body, lower body, axels and wheels.
